John Akomfrah on BBC Radio 4 – director of Handsworth Songs

 

Today’s Midweek on BBC Radio 4 had an interview with John Akomfrah, whose ‘Handsworth Songs’ is one of the films to be shown at the Urban Migration film festival. According to the BBC information on the programme, Akomfrah’s new film, ‘The Nine Muses’, shot in Alaska, looks at the history of mass migration to post-war Britain using Homer’s poem The Odyssey as a starting point.
