About this site

This is a blog set up to publicise and draw in comments from across the disciplines (and beyond) for a film festival and symposium planned at UCL on 15th February, 2012.

We have selected some of the most visually interesting, but also intellectually inspiring films to open up new questions about how migration and migrants shape and are shaped by their environment. The event ostensibly focuses on representations of migrants: on images, visualisation and film making, but equally its aim is that by using a different format than the maps, numbers and texts we academics are used to seeing in our everyday work, that we will open our minds, and of course our eyes to other aspects of this complex issue.

You are invited to share your own ideas on this topic. Follow this blog for updates on the event and follow-up comments from participants.

The site owner is Laura Vaughan, Professor of Urban Form and Society. Director of the Space Syntax Laboratory at The Bartlett, UCL.
